Ready for the weekend 😃
I received the Sourdough Flakes Bakers Box and followed the instructions for rehydrating the flakes to make our starter. After feeding the starter as instructed for five days I found that the instructions that come with the kit to be a bit vague. I wasn’t sure when they would be ready to use. I made my first bread on day 6 or 7. I followed the instructions for baking, using 80% of the starter. This resulted in a very wet mix. I tried working it but realised that this was not right. I googled for more information and found useful guidance on YouTube. I have made several loaves now and they are improving. We are also having fun making other sourdough products, including pancakes and I am currently cooking sourdough crumpets.
I like the kit, but it would be much better with more guidance and detailed instructions on when the starter is ready and how to go about your first bake.
They are are a gift for my son, so haven’t been able to open them yet.
